Prof. George Kosimbei holds a PhD in Economics from Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya. He is also a holder of an MA (Economics) and a BA (Economics) -First Class Honours. He has substantial experience in teaching, research, program management, and consultancy. He has supervised over 20 Master's and PhD students and participated in various research programs, including at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy and Research. He has been a key figure in the review and development of macroeconomics and health economics curricula under the Africa Economic Research Consortium (AERC), further solidifying his academic influence.
He served as the Chief of Party for USAID’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Regional Leadership Center East Africa. He is responsible for the overall programmatic and financial oversight of the program, ensuring the timely delivery of
quality deliverables committed to the program. Before this current role, he served as the Director of Innovation Incubation and University-Industry Linkages at Kenyatta University. He has also served as the Director of the Chandaria Business Innovation and Incubation Centre. He has been the project manager of the Kenyatta University - University of Rwanda - Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences and DAAD project on Technology Transfer and Commercialisation of Intellectual Property, a team leader of the Research to Commercialisation project for Kenyan Universities and Research Institutes funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
He has extensive experience working in health economics, innovation incubation, intellectual property management, and technology transfer and commercialization of Intellectual Property (IP). He has received training in IP commercialisation and management from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
