Programme Title: DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTANCY

Introduction: Diploma in Accountancy will be offered to those students who want to pursue career in Accounting or working in accounting related fields.

Programme objectives: To acquaint the learners with practical and conceptual knowledge and skills in accounting to meet market demand. To establish a firm foundation of academic and career advancement in accounting. To produce labour force with high ethical standards in accounting. To promote research and development in accounting.

Justification/ rationale: Many employees who intend to take career in accounting need to be well prepared to handle the fast changing work environment characterized by  increasing technological, economic and social sophistication.

Entry requirements: To qualify for admission to this programme, candidates must meet any of the following minimum requirements:                                                                                                      

  • A holder of KCSE C ( PLAIN) or
  • A holder of KCSE C- ( MINUS) with a relevant certificate from a recognized institution or
  • A holder of KCE Division III or its equivalent or
  • A holder of KACE with One Principal and One Subsidiary or equivalent

Mode and Structure of Delivery: Full-time in Main Campus, City Campus, Mombasa Campus and Nakuru Campus

Programme Duration: The programme duration will be two (2) academic years. In the first academic year of study, the learner will take eleven (11) units, six (6) units in the first semester and five (5) units in the second semester. In the second academic year of study, the learner will take five (5) units in the first semester and two units in the second semester ( attachment or project). In order to qualify for the award of the Diploma, the candidate must pass all the eighteen (18 units).

The programme duration will be two (2) academic years. This can be accelerated to one and a half years through trimester system of study.
