Mr. Manases Miruka, the Project Manager, Wadhwani Foundation Making Key Note Speech During the Schools Annual Postgraduate Seminar on 20th July 2017


 

In his address, Mr. Miruka informed the participants that Wadhwani Foundation is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, which supports National Entrepreneurship economic development through ‘Job creation’- Entrepreneurship & SME development (NEN); and ‘Job fulfilment’ - Skills and Vocational development. The foundation does this by mainstreaming entrepreneurship in education for national impact and by supporting start-ups and SMEs to grow their companies. He explained further that the organization supports students to generate ideas that are nurtured in the course of their studies by mentors in academics and industry aimed at creating new entrepreneurial ventures.

In relating the presentations to the theme of the seminar, “Scaling up the Economy through Research”. He expressed his opinion that higher educational institutions must develop students who can fend for themselves by running business enterprises. He informed the participants that already Kenyatta University is working with Wadhwani Foundation in an effort to promote small and medium micro- enterprises. He informed them further that the aim of the existing memorandum of understanding between Kenyatta University and Wadhwani Foundation is to leverage the learning of entrepreneurship with practical knowledge. He reiterated the fact that Wadhwani Foundation creates the capacity of young people to enter into entrepreneurship and they need mentors who will help them acquire entrepreneurial skills. With the help by Wadhwani Foundation, young business entrepreneurs are assisted to have the creativity that enables them learn and enter into business.

He also informed the participants that in order to be successful, you must find out what you want to achieve.

In conclusion, he told the participants that entrepreneurship is about value creation and creating jobs.

mba2MBA PROPOSAL DEFENSE AUGUST 2018

This is to inform all postgraduate students in MBA programme that there will be a proposal defense meeting on Thursday 30th August, 2018 at Alumni Building (Main Campus) starting 8.30 a.m.
This defense is for students who have successfully completed their coursework and have registered for the Research Project. The qualified students should submit the soft copy (in a CD) and six spiral bound copies of their Research Proposals duly signed by themselves and supervisor(s) to the Doctoral and MBA Coordination office before or by Monday, 27th August, 2018. All postgraduate students are also invited to attend the defense meeting.
Please arrange to attend and be punctual.

As a prelude to the forth-coming August 2018, Graduation ceremony, the school held its Annual Postgraduate Seminar for Master’s students on Tuesday 17 July 2018 at the Kenyatta University Business Services and Students Center (BSSC) Building, Seminar room 12. The theme of the seminar was “Education for Attainment of Kenya’s Big Four Agenda”. In attendance was the Registrar (Academic) who delivered the keynote speech, the Dean School of Business, Departmental Chairpersons, Members of Teaching and non-teaching staff from the School of Business and MBA graduand.

In an effort to enhance international linkages, the School of Business is a member of Association of African Business Schools (AABS), an association that brings together business Schools in Africa on a common platform to share best practices in training Business students.  The focus is training for the industry.  AABS conference was organized and held on May 2018 in Tanzania, Dar e salaam School of Business, where the Dean Dr. Paul K. Sang represented the School of Business, Kenyatta University. The event provided an opportunity for networking as well as input on management education trends across Africa and internationally, with the focus of improving the quality of management education in Africa. The participation of the School of Business Kenyatta University enables the School to contribute towards economic growth and development in the continent through our Programmes.

(Dr.) Nicholas Appreh Siaw Koforidua Technical University (KTU), the Dean School Of Business Dr. Regina Bekoa, Dean School of Hospitality and Tourism, Dr. Boatweng, Director International Linkages Dr. Samuel Addae all of Koforidua Technical University during teaching at Koforidua Technical University, Ghana in June 2018. This is following a Memorandum of understanding between the two institutions to assist Koforidua Technical University in building capacity for their teaching staff, especially teaching and supervision of students taking PhD in Business.
